Is anyone familiar with this group, which is an education honor society? A web search shows that it was established in 1911 and has chapters at 600 schools, including some very good ones - but not all the good ones. The membership eligibility requirements don't seem very demanding. The required GPA for undergrads is just a 3.0; for grad students, a 3.25, although individual school chapters can set higher thresholds (my d's school does).

The fee is modest ($42 annually), and there are some benefits such as a newsletter, a professional journal, online resources, etc. Some well-known educators are listed as members (Jonathan Kozol, Alfie Kohn, Henry Giroux), but I know that doesn't mean they're necessarily affiliated with the organization in a meaningful way. My d is wondering if it's worth joining. Thanks for any info/advice.
