keeping books

I just got all of my books for this semester and was wondering which types of books are good to resell and which ones I should keep. Do you guys generally keep your books?

I usually keep ones that I think will be useful for future semesters (usually those related to my major). I try to sell the rest back to the school bookstore, but if they aren't going to buy it or give me much money for it, I keep it and try to sell some other way.

You'll probably have a good idea by the end of the semester which ones you want to sell and keep. I generally only keep them if they were useful and relate to what I plan to study in the future.

sell them all. If you need the information in the future, that's what the library or internet's for.

If it relates to your major, keep them, especially if it's a pre-professional major. Your school library won't be available to you once you graduate, and for me at least, my local library doesn't have much relating to my major.

I have not found much useful information on the internet for many of my upper level courses. If there is, then it's usually only a tidbit, and not nearly enough. It also takes a lot longer to search on the Internet than a textbook on your shelf.

I would keep one if I especially liked it and found it very helpful. I still have a high school chemistry book that I fell in love with. It explained things so well, was very clear, and was in great condition, so I just kept it and paid the $75 fee (or whatever it was) before I graduated. I already got chemistry homework from college, and guess what? My high school book clarified something I was confused on better than the college book.

I plan on keeping any books that may be useful to me in the future if I'm taking a related course (e.g. I'm talking Calculus I this semester, so I'll keep the Calc I book for next semester's Calc II if I really like the Calc I book.... Once I'm totally done with my Calc series of classes, I'll probably sell them all back to the bookstore at that point).
