keeping merit aid

How difficult is it to maintain the GPA required for a merit scholarship?

According to the GW FA Website - “Most” merit scholarships require the student to maintain a 3.0 GPA. I read if you fall below that they will grant a 1 semester probation/warning.

So, it’s key for the merit-aid students to “protect” their GPA by being knowledgable of their course/instructor selections to maiximize GPA if maintaining a 3.0 is becoming difficult.

My “S” is a freshman in ESIA and finding Econ difficult - thank God he has Rel and Astronomy to help with the GPA! He has to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA anyway - since it’s likely he’s looking at Grad School at ESIA as an undergrad.

I don’t know if GW will give you any statistics, you could ask. My D was always a good student in HS - self-motivated, very hard working - and has had no problem keeping her GPA over 3.5 in 3 years as an international affairs/econ double major.
