Keeping Prescription Drugs safe in Dorm Room

Agree that out if sight is best. As a holdover from the LA Olympics decades prior, my S had a safe in his dorm closet freshman year and his room mate had one too. I don’t believe they or anyone in their dorm ever locked said safes–just kept things out of sight when not in use.

Those weekly pill containers could hold anything, including vitamins and supplements. If no one knows what the student has or is taking any meds, that’s best and much less tempting. Agree that only having a one week supply at a time in the container makes sense.

I believe if the meds are stolen, leaving the student/patient short, the provider and insurer can be appealed to for an exception to refill sooner than usual.

Costco sells safes that look like hotel safes. Very heavy, easily holds a laptop and important documents or cash. I think the price was in the range of $80 or $90. He had a second, old PC laptop for a specific class and I was concerned he would leave it out since he used his MBP daily. Of course, I am not sure of the resale market for old PC laptops!

It looks like this one, but I know I did not pay that much for it. It weighs a ton, so perhaps the higher online price is due to shipping expense.
