@artheart28 Oh my goodness my exams start next Monday. Likewise I can’t study or focus while waiting!! I’m so nervous.
Also, I can’t seem to get a straight answer on the internet. Is it going to be sent out in the mail, or will it be by e-mail? (for US applicants)
They will send an email that your portal has been updated. The packets will also be in the mail, slightly before or simultaneously, I haven’t figured out yet.
Anyone heard any updates on ED1 notification dates?
@shan7k nope Might be as late as Monday, but hopefully it comes before
Kenyon sends financial aid packages with acceptence letters to my knowledge
Anyone hear anything yet?
Not yet! Asked my daughter to check periodically throughout the day!
@shan7k I called today and posted in the ED thread. (I’m on mobile and can’t link)
Supposedly “by the 15th” … more details in that post. It was not 100% clear.
@homerdog just happened to see this thred… My son is a junior there. He doesn’t drink. It’s his personality too, but he’s not a partier. Not a typical “nerd” either… He played a sport at higher level and went to hang with the team at Kenyon during his senior year in HS, but he decided that he really didn’t like the team. He overnighted with the team boys too, It’s just that he never really was a “jock” type - he played the sport for the love of the sport but never liked the team environment.
Anyway, in the end, out of all 8 schools he got in, he still chose to come to Kenyon!
Before he made the decision, a prof invited him to Skype in on a class (we live West Coast) and he got to say hi to the students as well - he felt very welcomed and he liked the class too. He’s a science major now, and what sold him was the connection with the profs and the amazing science facility.
His first roommate was a gamer and played on his headphone and mic all night (eventually dropped out only after one semester) but since then he has had the same roommate and they get along great, visit each other’s hometown etc.
His circle of friends don’t party much but they do other things. Sometimes trips to Mt Vernon or Columbus, sometimes just hanging with friends and watching movies, some artists come and perform there too, which I know he loves to see live shows… there are tons of things to do, even though according to him, studying is so hard and so much to do always.
I visited him there in early summer when the school was already out, but he was there for the summer internship at his lab. I met some kids and took them out for dinner, they were all fun great kids! Too bad he’s so far away from home, but I’m glad he’s there. We like the school.
(My now a senior in HS daughter says that there’s no way she could go to Kenyon, it’s too rural for her! Yes, I think it is very rural.)
I hope I gave you some perspectives from a boy’s mom.
@shank7k I have news! I direct messaged Kenyon on Twitter and got this back:
“Good afternoon! Decisions are scheduled to be released this evening. You’ll receive an email instructing you to check the online admissions portal.”
Oh my goodness!!! thank you. Aghhh nerves are running high now. I’m guessing it’ll be 6:00? (eastern time?)
Hey guys! PSA… Check your email! Its out!
