Kenyon Class of 2020 - Regular Decision

waitlisted. 32 ACT, 800 and 780 on subject tests, 3 time Intel ISEF finalist, a minor planet named by MIT’s Lincoln laboratory, Google Science Fair regional finalist. Something seems wrong… Been collecting waitlists and rejections all day.

Waitlisted, international.

I had a 1930 SAT, studied abroad for a year in Indonesia, and a 4.1 GPA…didn’t expect to get in so a wait listing was nice. I also got a free travel grant to visit kenyon for their multicultural weekend and interviewed, so I thought I showed interest. All well. Congrats to all who got in!

D got in! Finally some good news in this process

Accepted

Extremely disappointed. Kenyon was my number one choice and I was wait-listed. I just don’t understand. I got early acceptances from both Williams and Swarthmore. I don’t want to sound bitter, but I can’t help but feel it may have been because of my income. Need-aware admissions is bull.

I’m tired of "need blind " nonsense. My daughter 32 ACT with 4.2 GPA weighted and from one of the best public schools in Illinois, was rejected and I have a feeling it was a financial need situation. It’s Kenyon’s loss.

Hi, my son was wait listed and had a 36 ACT and 4.5 weighted. Who knows why certain students are rejected, accepted and waitlisted. I imagine it gets down to a lot of equally qualified students and subjective decisions involving many factors, including money.

D was waitlisted with much lower stats than what some of you are quoting. I think that Kenyon just has so many applicants that they can go with the students they think will fit best and they have the luxury of building a class. My D wasn’t out right rejected because she interviewed well and had real interests and experiences that might have contributed. There are only so many spaces. Congratulations to all of the admits, and I’m sure all of the kids who applied will land somewhere good!

We are full pay, but without any merit (she applied to a number of optional Kenyon scholarships) it seems unlikely we will go for this one. $63k is a big bill when other great schools are half as much.

Accepted wit no Merit aid. .Surprising. I have 10 acceptances so far and they all have nice merit except Georgetowm and Notre Dame. Congrats to all others accepted and good luck to everyone else.

Did anyone in here get a general merit award? Is the promise scholarship that 2 people posted about pure merit or is that for some sort of specialty? We know someone who got a $15k art scholarship.

@karlmarx2020 Daughter is in same boat. Many great merit offers from peer schools, but zero from Kenyon.

@lexluthor Yeah, i thought it was a bit odd. I just received $25K from Grinnell, but nada from Kenyon

@lexluthor5 I received the Promise Scholarship and this is what it said: “In addition to admission, you have been chosen to receive a Kenyon Promise Scholarship in the amount of $10,000 per year. This scholarship is awarded to students who show promise for extraordinary achievement and is one of the highest academic honors that can be bestowed upon an entering student.”

Accepted with Kenyon Promise Scholarship! Will not attend due to low need based aid.

I got waitlisted too.

Does anybody know Kenyons waitlist stats. Like how many people they put on the list and how many people actually get off it?

Accepted with a full ride! These last few weeks have been crazy, with all the other decisions inundating me at once. This is just the cherry on top of a fully decked-out, delicious sundae.

Waitlist here too - stats WAY above Kenyon’s average. Strong leadership, great essay, recs were likely excellent. Def. needed good merit/financial aid. Life is not fair takes on new meaning.

This information is available in each college’s Common Data Set. Here’s Kenyon’s stats for last year:
