Would it be a bad idea to major in psychology and MINOR in dance, just in order to get fit?
I dont want a career in the dance field, but experience and getting in shape are the pluses. It's a serious question, I know kinda dumb but anyway. Answers are appreciated!

Katerinat- I would say it really depends on the school. Many universities have dance programs and the range of expectations for student background in large. You don’t say if you have dance experience so it is a little hard to say. The schools that my D auditioned for that had dance minors expected students to have had training, but many of these also had open classes that non-dance majors could participate in. I would contact the schools that you are interested in and ask them directly since the answer is probably quite particular to the school.

I believe at many colleges you don’t have to be a dance minor to take dance classes, but it may be easier to get your first choices if you are a dance minor. But to answer your question, it’s not a bad idea at all. My daughter is considering doing just that because she is interested in becoming a movement therapist.

Thanks, these are great responces.

I have years upon years of martial arts training, so the stretchiness and flexibility is there. I also did gymnastics for five years, cheerleading for two, and regular dance class for two years.
