Can someone please help me make a decision I really don’t know what to do in this situation.
I submitted my app to Cornell ED on November 1st and it is my absolute dream school.
I have above average scores and transcript, but not the BEST scores and transcript. 2 regional and rest school awards and great EC’s
I’m an international applicant who is going to be asking for a lot of aid, but not full aid.
I’m considering shifting to RD now bc something personal happened recently and it basically fxxked up everything, and bc of that I haven’t submitted my CSS profile yet, and I haven’t even taken the SAT 2 (I had postpone it to December)
Will they defer me or reject me in the ED round bc my score wont be in yet?
Should I withdraw my ED application before the decision comes out? If I withdraw will I be able to re-submit it as an RD app?
I know they fill most of their seats in the ED round but do I even have the slightest chance of getting in through RD? Will it benefit me if I mention (if I get to re-submit) in the additional area about having to draw my ED app and my commitment to attending Cornell?
Thank you.
You can just ask them to change to RD. If subject tests are required for the college within Cornell that you are applying to, then indeed they likely will reject your app if you don’t have them. You certainly can tell them they are your first choice if that is true (but I doubt you can fully commit to attending if accepted, since you may or may not get enough aid).
If the school you are applying to at Cornell requires SAT 2, it is not likely you will be admitted during ED by taking SAT 2 in Dec. You are better off to contact the adcom to change your application to RD.
There is a slight benefit in applying ED, but not if you don’t have your scores ready.
They do not “fill most of their seats in the ED round”.
^^^Agreed.
