kpmg just took it up the butt from the US gov. so i guess were down from big 8 to big 3 now. wow. peresonally i think white collar criminals should be publicly hung in front of the NYSE building. so what do you guys think of white collar crimiinals?

I have to disagree with your assessment. The government is going to everything it can to NOT end up with a Big 3. They want make sure that the Arthur Anderson fiasco is not repeated, as they ended up (unintentionally) hurting more people than intended when Arthur Anderson and some of its clients went under. KPMG got off easy. The new trend will probably be to go after the individuals who committed the fraud rather than the company itself.

KPMG will be fine--in fact, its clients are supporting the company.

But yes, white collar crime is bad.

KPMG is not going down the tube like AA at all. Plus they gave me a doughnut yesterday on my way to class so I have a special place for them in my tummy.

too bad some of their partners are going to jail. bastards.

When I started the accounting program awhile back I had to sit through some ethics workshop and they showed us a slide of USC accounting grads already in jail. It worked out that about one accounting grad a year from USC will end up in jail. The ease of committing fraud and lack of ethics is bad these days.
