I've gotten offers from both companies for an Electrical Engineering Co-op this fall. Both positions have around the same salary and similar locations. The L-3 position seems a little more around my interest area but I think I like Raytheon's core values better (I also liked the interviewers/HR people better at Raytheon). Who would you rather work for and why? I know this will be very subjective, but I'm just curious to hear your guy's opinions about these two companies. Thanks!

I worked with one and for the other. Neither ever gave me a reason to complain, nor to suspect any ill treatment of others. I would probably pick the one with the more interesting work, as “core values” are just management buzz words more often than not.

The core value of a major corporation is to derive income from its operations. That’s the objective. With STEM companies hopefully there will be some innovation thrown in from time to time.

I would pick Raytheon since it’s much bigger company and you might be able to do internal transfer easier.

Having done design work for both companies, I would say Raytheon. Although sharp, the L-3 engineers always seemed somewhat disjointed.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I ended up choosing Raytheon. I probably should of said “morale values” instead
“core values”. L-3 was illegally data mining from the Air-force a couple years ago and that just kinda gave me a weird feeling about them (being fairly patriotic and what not). Ultimately, I just got along better with Raytheon and I felt like L-3 was always trying to corner during interviews.
