I originally posted in February 2015. Our oldest will be graduating from a math/science magnet program in May, and will attend Temple in the fall. He easily had high enough SAT scores for the highest scholarship, but his sub par GPA hurt. He was a NMSF, but didn’t advance due to grades.The younger has had serious problems with anxiety and dropped out of the program he was in. His test scores continue to be strong, but he isn’t enjoying school very much.
@MYOS1634 I agree that Harvard is amazingly affordable according to NPC. However, other top 30 schools such as Brown and Barnard - happened to be playing with their calculators earlier today - are not as generous, especially to parents in the mid income range. While they may give something, 50k is not affordable to someone making 200k a year in New York suburbs or Boston.
