Does anyone know anything about theatre at Macalester?

^ Dunno about theater at Macalester, but the Twin Cities are said to have more theater seats per capita than any other city in the world, after NYC. It’s a good city for the arts, and quality of life in general, if you can handle the winters.

as silly as it may sound, tk21769 is 100 %correct. the winter in MN can be beyond harsh.
otherwise macalaster and carlton would be amazing first choices for a lot more students.

We were considering a trip to Minnesota to see both Carleton and Mac but a traveling Carleton rep told my daughter that there were only 2 theatre majors at Carleton last year and that just seemed too small of a cohort even understanding that plenty of non-majors will take classes, be in shows, etc.

I still think Mac could be a possibility though and it’s not a bad flight for us.

My daughter doesn’t mind cold - she can’t stand too hot.

Oh, Williams would be amazing, momrath, but I’ll admit to getting really intimidated when I see the stats of the kids applying there. My son has no real “hooks” and these NE LACs are all so popular, I’ve really been encouraging him to look at schools in other parts of the country so he seems a little more “exotic”–on paper at least. ;-)

I so appreciate everyone’s suggestions in this thread about schools to look at. We have friends (SERIOUS theater professionals) who have a child at Carleton (math/science geek) and we have both Carleton and Macalester on our list, along with Grinnell and Reed. I’d like my son to seriously look at all the good LACs in the northeast, as well, but I have no idea if he’s a good match for any of them.
