<p>HYPMS stands for the colleges that have the most competitive admissions - e.g. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford.</p>

<p>If you’re going to be a CCer, you’ll need to know “YMMV” too.</p>

<p>Even when you know what they mean, they can get confusing. Case in point, every time someone mentions looking for a college in NE, I think, “Yes, Nebraska does have many fine places to go to school.” I also find the school abbreviations a hoot. SDSU. South Dakota State University. BC. British Columbia? What the heck kind of school is that? Yeah, I’m pretty hopeless.</p>

<p>BC = Boston College, the Jesuit university of the Boston Metro area.</p>
