LACs not too competitive, snobby, or too far north!

thanks for all the suggestions!~ now its time to research and plan that college road trip!

Surprising to hear that some feel Dickinson is kissing up to UNWR envy, as just a few months go the school was being nearly deified for deciding not respond and forgo any inquiries from UNWR’s “pollsters.”

Agree with LakeW. Dickinson is in Carlisle Pa, south central. Literally stones throw to Gettysburg and Antietam. Fine school. They are working towards getting out of that USNWR madness. I commend them.

But I can’t speak for the student body. And I know that one kid’s heaven is another kid’s hell. Campus feel/vibe is highly subjective, which is why visits are essential. If its not you and you know it, then don’t apply/go there. No harm, no foul.

Find the right place for you…there are several. But don’t obsess about it either, because no campus/school is perfect and you wont find anyplace that is going to meet your every dream and need…even if it feels like it on first blush. There are always issues that pop up later. Part of growing up and learning to adjust as an adult.

But yes, do your best to find the right place…good luck.

If your daughter is a member of the National Honor Society, she is guaranteed a merit scholarship of at least $12,500 a year at Washington College in Maryland. I’ve heard it’s a relaxed atmosphere, but I haven’t visited personally.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned McDaniel College in MD, but everyone I know who attends is very happy with the academics there. St. Mary’s is beautiful and has a summer camp, friendly feel to it. Good luck!
