Hi,
I would love to go to yale/harvard law, and I was wondering which undergrad school looks better: wellesley or barnard? I would apply to one now, but my parents are pushing for an all girls school. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Smith. (10 chars)

It does not matter because all three schools; Barnard, Wellesley and Smith all turn out great students who all get accepted to great law, medical and grad schools. If you are applying ED, then apply to the school that you really want to attend and is overall your first choice.

Where you think you will be admitted and where you are actually admitted are two different things. You may get into both schools or you may be rejected from both schools so there is no need to ask "which will look better?" at the present time. Focus your energies into getting into a school at which you feel you can excel.

Furthermore, you or may not be jumping the gun.

Who's to say you will attain a GPA at either or any school to put you in the running at all?

Achieve an LSAT that does not get your application immediately rejected for fear it will jeopardize either schools top two US News and World Report standing?

Have salient work and volunteer experiences that differentiate you from the pack of your increasingly competitive, high-achieving peers?

Write sincere essays that make application readers want to know you? Or at the very least not make a director of admissions want to poke his or her eyes out over the course of the two pages you are allocated?

Foster relationships with professors who will take the time to know you and will be willing and able to write well on your behalf?

Those were a few things to think about. First, you need to be accepted at a undergraduate institution before any of these things will come into your reach. And just a tip: I'd recommend you find the difference between an all girls school and a women's college before so much as trying to commit yourself to either's mission.

:)

Thanks for all the advice!
I really needed advice because I have visited both, and would like to apply ED to one of them. I like the environment at both Wellesley and Barnard, even though they are quite different!

If you liked the environment at both, believe either would be a good fit for you and could be happy in either place, then toss your hat in the ring and apply to both! You may be very pleasantly surprised or the decision might be made for you.

Either way, best of luck to you in the process--it's a beast at best, haha.
