i just want to say i am soooo excited for uchicago next year. i was just looking at the calendar in the newspaper and thinking how much there will be to do next year!!

so...that's all

tata!

tata, i am just as excited as well =]

Chicago's not as good as HYPCS. Period.

man what is wrong with you? even if it were true, why would you say that? if someone on these forums was excited about going to say, UCSD, would you post about how UCSD's not as good as HYPCS?

because he's not that excited about not getting in perhaps :)

completely off topic, err, ruyi- and i know this is a strange question, but do you by any chance happen to be Turkish? It's just that I know a girl in Turkey by the name of Ruya, which sounds quite similar..

haha nope. i'm actually a white/chinese mix, so ruyi is my chinese name. people have asked me if that was japanese before, but turkish is a new one (:

lakers- I`ve seen you post atleast 3 times on this board about how Uchic is below the ivy league schools and stanford/MIT.
If you are going to make rude remarks about the school, I suggest you stop posting on the Uchicago forum.

It is below the standards. You people waltz around saying "oh I'm so unique" because I'm going to Chicago when you should just admit that you weren't good enough to get into HYPStanColMit, etc.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=322685

Wow, great argument, much? This person got into both Chicago and Princeton. I just also wanted to say I got admitted to Standford but I will most likely be going to Chicago. I have friends that have gotten into Harvard who will attend Chicago because he feels the level of education is higher.

If you weren
t so ignorant, you
d realize that Chicago is ranked 9th on USNews with Columbia and Darthmouth. It`s ranked higher than Cornell.

and may I also ask where YOU`RE attending college?

That person actually said they're going to Pton. I'm deciding between Dartmouth Penn, Columbia, and Yale. I'm a great all around athlete with excellent grades and SATs, and I probably could have gotten into Harvard as well if I actually tried.

Yes, but that wasn`t the point of the argument. You said that people who got into Chicago say "oh I'm so unique" because I'm going to Chicago", when we should you just admit that we weren't good enough to get into HYPStanColMit, etc.

And I offered evidence that people who have gotten into Chicago can/have gotten into those schools you just listed, proving your statement wrong. Why are you changing the focus of the argument by saying that the OP of the post is going to Pton? Why does that matter? That is his/her personal choice and does not indicate that Chicago is a less superior school.

Thats great you got into all those great schools- and I honestly wish you luck wherever you attend. I`m just wondering why are you posting here if you arent planning to attend Chicago or dont think well of the school. Are you just coming here to toot your horn?

I'm wondering likewise. Lakerskingdom, a lot of people that go to Chicago turned down Ivies to go there, including those that you have been accepted to. I just sent in my "no thanks" form to Penn and couldn't be happier. Uh-oh... now we're on smiliar playing fields, aren't we?
UChicago is the kind of environment that is right for a lot of people and isn't right for some others, including a lot of kids that can and do get in to Ivy League schools like me, Princeton girl, and the hundreds of other kids currently on campus who turned down Ivy League schools or Stanford/Yale/MIT/Whatever to attend. If you're an Ivy League person, good for you and your ability to get in and be happy there- we're not saying that's good or bad, but we're definitely not branding ourselves with the Ivy label simply to say we go there; we're picking the school that is right, that we feel will give us the best education FOR US. That kind of choice doesn't deserve someone to come in, bash it with a name like Ivy or anything else, and run away. Chicago isn't the kind of place for you, and that's fine.

Hey, I noticed that your smiley faces are inverted. Is that because you're left-handed?

My friend just turned down Penn for Chicago too!

Sorry if I was slightly rude in the post above, I noted that it was edited. Didn't mean to be, sorry!

badman, nope. just a weird habit i guess.

now i'm excited too, actually. i'm an ea transfer applicant, and decision should come next week! gah.

"hey everyone, I can't wait to see you at u of c next year!!!"

"You and u of c suck, get into a real college."

did it look like that to anyone else?

yeah it did, but I don't care anymore. I ordered my t and sweatshirt from the bookstore, and donned both today, and everything felt right.

Lakerskingdom, why did you email about why I'm excited to attend the U of C? Let me put this in the best way possible:

I GO. WHERE I PLEASE.
