Language Requirement

If you have not placed out of the arts and science language requirement, do you have to take spanish (for example) freshman year? Can I take it sophomore year instead?

yes, you can take any Core requirement at any time. However, I always recommend taking them earlier rather than later. Take CCR first semester and be done with the requirement. Also, by taking the language later, you might forget some of your HS learning.

(No fun being a senior in a class populated by those “pesky” Frosh! hahaha)

You should take it your freshman year. If you’re continuing a langauge from high school, you’ll benefit from not having a gap between study periods. If you’re starting a new language you’ll want to satisfy the requirement early since it requires four semesters.

I’m sure that I won’t be taking a language freshman year for a number of reasons. However, could I still take the subject test in the fall of freshman year to see if I can score out of it?

Yes, you can take the subject test anytime and fulfill the requirement.

Such as? (I would submit that, while the reasons may look good to you, they won’t pass muster with objective eyes.)

btw: any pre-health major should get his/her Core requirements out of the way quickly, so you can focus on course so interest. (Plan on taking Bio as a Soph.)

Yes, but you should check to see about taking one of BC’s proficiency tests instead. YOu’ll see information about it in your orientation packet.
