<p>I studied French during grades 9th and 10th, and Hindi during grades 6, 7, 8. I'm much more comfortable with Hindi (its my native language) and I can't speak French at all. I don't remember anything bout it. However since its the most recent language that I've studied, will I have to give the French language placement test? I've emailed UNC about this, but have received no response.</p>
<p>I’m thinking you have to take the test for the language you took in high school… Whether you plan on taking that language at UNC or not.</p>
<p>Jambaby is right. You HAVE to take the placement exam for the language you took in high school, no matter if you plan on taking another language during college. Doesn’t make much sense to me, but that’s just how it works!</p>

<p>Honestly, though, DON’T worry about it! You DO plan to take Hindi during college, right? The score on your placement exam means nothing–especially if you aren’t going to even take French in college! It’s just a waste of about 5 minutes of your time. No big deal. Just take it, bring the scores to orientation like you’re supposed to (unless this is one of those that you have to take at the school), and select Hindi as your language once you get to orientation. No big deal. :]</p>
<p>However, even if you ARE planning to take French in college, the score still means nothing. It’s just a placement exam. Once again, no big deal. I took Spanish in the 11th grade and don’t remember much of it–therefore, I was placed into Spanish 105 (advanced beginners). They didn’t reject me or anything because I didn’t place highly! ;P</p>
