I was gonna purchase a dell laptop, and I was wondering if there are any advantages in buying the laptop from Duke itself, and if so, are they worth it? Or should i just buy it straight thru dell?

Well, I'd have to vouch for that warranty. For a complete 4 years, the warranty pretty much covers all accidents that can happen (spills of coffee on the keyboard, cracked screens, etc). The only thing it doesn't cover is theft; so basically, you just gotta turn in a defunct laptop for the work to be done. Also, Duke laptops get priority service at Duke's tech repair.

I can't really think of many downsides...you can still find some cheaper models out on the market. And if you're really computer savvy, you may be turned off by the fact that you can't really choose all the knicks and knacks you want on your computer. I think the systems are more than adequate though.

if you're looking to buy a laptop through dell's website, check www.dealcatcher.com for coupons first. also, look through the 'small business' section because the computers are mostly identical with cheaper prices.
