Laptop for a double major?

I will be double majoring in Health Science and International Affairs. My parents told me that I can't get an expensive laptop, but I see no point in getting a cheap one that I'll have to replace in a year or two. I was looking at the new Mac Air, but I'm be sure if I should get a pro or if a PC would be better. I want something lightweight, durable, and a 13 in. It also has to be fast and capable of having many tabs and programs open at once. What would you all recommend?

I would recommend macbook pro

I’d say the new Air. If you’re talking about the regular MBP and not the retina, then DEFINITELY the Air.

Thank you for the replies. I would not get the pro with retina because it is not that important to me- if I did get the pro i would get the standard 13 inch. Bump?

Then don’t buy a Mac. For $1000, I bought my D a pc laptop (gaming quality performance) that will last her 4 years, including a 3 year warranty. For $500, you can buy a pc laptop that would be more than adequate for a health science/international affairs student for 4+ years. My laptop that is 7 years old would be good enough for you.
