Laptop for College

I am deciding between:
ASUS G53JW-A1 (15.6 inch) and ASUS G73JH-X5 (17.3 inch)

They are basically the same in pricing and in the specs( G53 has 6gb ram and the other has 8gb, also they have different graphics cards). Will I need more than 2 hours of battery for college? They both run for about 2 hours, with downclocking maybe 2:30 hrs. I am leaning more for the G73 since I am used to bigger screens. If 2 hours is not enough should I also get an E-PC?

It depends on what you want to do with it. I know I want to take my laptop with me to some classes, and to places like the lounge, student union, diner, etc. If you want to do these things, I would recommend buying the 15 inch one. If you want to use it mostly in your dorm, the 17 inch might be more suitable.

Also, I personally would want more than 2 hours of battery life. I want at least 4.

The laptops I’m looking at buying are 13-15 inch screens, less than 7 lbs(the 15 inchers are around 6.5, the lighter 13 inchers are around 4), and 4+ hours of battery life.

6GB and 8GB of RAM will not make a difference at all in your day-to-day activities, and unless you are a serious gamer or video editor, then 4GB will be enough.
Graphics card, obviously very helpful if you enjoy gaming.

If this is going to be your main computer and you do more than just the average activities (web browsing, movies, email, etc), then I would go with the bigger screen.

g53jw. USB 3.0 is a godsend, and the 460m runs much cooler, so you won’t have to worry about dust becoming as major of an issue (or at least nearly is often).

Also you get to update drivers with no problem, since flashing the bios and all that fun stuff is needed to stop the GSOD issue on newer drivers for the 5870m. Additionally if the clockrate is 1.6ghz on the processor then there might be gpu paste issues.
