I'm a senior in HS this year and am already thinking about what kind of laptop to get for college. I have had a PC my whole life and am fine with it. I really like the Macs from when I have used them though and I am contemplating getting one. My main questions revolve around what they can't do. If i'm planning on going into business or econ or math, are there any programs that I wouldn't be able to use of a Mac that I would need? I would definately still get Microsoft Office for the Mac so I could use word, excel, and powerpoint, but what other differences are there? Also, how would you go about transfering your music off a PC to a Mac in Itunes?

One thing to keep in mind is that often colleges have deals with specific computer manufacturers, so if you could get a pretty nice discount after you enroll. Also, certain departments often have preferences regarding Mac vs. PC. It may be best to wait to make up your mind until the summer before you enroll, when you can find out a) whether your college endorses any specific brand, and b) what the business/econ/math departments at your school recommend.

i like the looks of a macbook more than the looks of any other laptop. u can use boot camp to run windows. cost doesnt worry me for software; i just download everything (vista, mac os x leopard, books, burning programs, ya, anything random)

I got the Lenovo X61 tablet (the new one). It's amazing, for taking notes, and so forth. I use almost no paper now. :D

It's very portable and so forth as well.
