Laptop... helpful?

Curious, how helpful is a laptop for the SOM classes? Do I ever need to bring it places? (like projects and such). I was at Hofstra my freshmen year and a CC my sophmore year and at Hofstra I had a desktop and it worked fine because I never really needed to have some mobile.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling I'll have to spend money on a laptop because it might be necesary or at least very helpful? I'm not sure though...

Anyone know?

Also, any nice laptops for $1,000? I don't need anything crazy, just something I can go online with and stuff. I don't even need some huge screen really considering I'll probably also bring my desktop 17 inch and do dual screens.

Jesse, nice to see you got into Binghamton, even though you obviously deserved much more (i really mean that). I'll probably end up at Bing (or Gen) if I'm not able to trick the top tiers into making a huge mistake and accepting me.

I pray the adcoms are legally blind and can't tell the difference between a 1000 SAT and a 1600.

Anyway, check out refurbished models, if price is your top concern: (<a href="http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&lob=PREC&MODEL_DESC=M20%20Notebook&s=dfh%5B/url%5D">http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&lob=PREC&MODEL_DESC=M20%20Notebook&s=dfh</a>)</p>
