Hi there! Does anybody know if we just wait to hear from Villanova about how to get the free laptop? Or is there some application form or a website my D is suppose to be completing? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they sent my dd a letter, and she had to fill something out to receive it. They may put something on Novasis, too, so check that site which will have a number of things to complete before August, I believe.
It was great for her to get that laptop ahead of time- which we dubbed the$45,000 laptop, lol!

Too Funny!!!! That is a VERY expensive laptop indeed!

Thanks for replying! I will have her check her NOVASIS.

As galwaymom has said my D also received a $45,000 computer ;) I distinctly remember her receiving the information forms very early. In fact, I remember she received her laptop on July 12th. Villanova suggests that you receive your laptop early to get used to it. My D was so excited!!!

I believe the early laptop delivery application starts May 8...there is supposed to be a link there on the freshman link on novasis.

Thanks everyone!

Now do the students actually take their laptops everywhere and type notes while in class? I've been out of school for so long...I feel like a dinosaur asking this question.

Also, would you suggest getting a backpack that specifically fits a laptop? Most of them look so big and bulky.

Thanks.

My D is a science major hence many hours of labs. She does not take her laptop to her classes but her business major friends do. You will receive a backpack with your laptop. It is great for transporting your laptop to and from home especially if you are taking a train or plane.

Will it be possible to upgrade certain parts on the laptop like the memory and the video and add other accessories including security options.

it's always possible

My D received her laptop from Villanova last week and she is thrilled!!

Anybody know how students distinguish their laptops from other students? Are they allowed to put stickers on it?

Also, do most students in the dorms typically have their own printer? My husband is hesitant in getting her a printer because he thinks other students are going to take advantage of it.

Any other computer related ideas/suggestions are very much appreciated!

Thank you.

My D never had a problem identifying her laptop but she did put stickers on hers. I think almost everyone has their own printer so there's no need to worry about other students taking advantage of your D. My D was in a triple and each girl had their own printer. My D wanted her own for the convenience of printing when she needed to and not waiting for a friend's printer. Your D could share a printer with her roommate but there is no guarantee that the girls will get along as my D found out.

My D never had problems with her laptop but Villanova does provide a repair and problem solving service if needed.
