My D will be a senior 2019/20. She is planning to go on to a DPT program. I know she will continue to have to apply for financial aid but will this be the last year we have to provide our information? I hope so.
It depends.
It’s not too major of an issue. It was my understanding that if the student has finished their undergraduate degree and is accepted into a graduate or professional program like a DPT program they are normally considered an independent student. I read that some Medical schools and Law schools will still require the parents information. With two Ds 3 years apart we’ve been filling out the FAFSA for 7 years. I’m about ready to fill out what I hope to be my last one. It will be nice not to have to think about that.
It is Oct 1 and I am NOT filling out a FAFSA!
You would need to check the DPT programs. I believe some do require parent info.
It’s October…and one of my kids is doing her last FAFSA for herself. Finally. We’ve been done for three years…woohoo.
My D will be filing her FAFSA as an independent student this year, she will be in year 5 of a six year PharmD program, which counts as graduate school.
But if she wants to apply for health profession loan, she has to provide parent information as far as I know.
I don’t know if that applies to DPT as well.
