My D did not receive her acceptance letter until this past Saturday. The Admissions Office made a mistake and re-classified her as a transfer student when she had applied and was rightfully a freshman applicant. The mistake was not discovered until we did not receive any letter by 4/1. Not a rejection, waitlist or acceptance letter. It seems like it has taken forever to straighten it out. Ultimately she was accepted. But since she did not receive her letter until recently, she has also not received any other mail from SCU. All of her other schools have peppered her with letters from parents, from students, a cute gift certificate for a cookie during orientation week, bragging brochures, etc. In other words, lots of email and letters trying to persuade her to come to their schools. She has received nothing from SCU. I am trying to figure out if that is because she was accepted so late, or it SCU just does not communicate with its students after the acceptance letter. So I would like to hear from other students or parents who were accepted to see what type of welcome and arm twisting they have received. I am trying very hard to convince my daughter that SCU is still worth considering, despite their mistake and lack of communication since then. We have also still not heard anything about financial aid. It is very hard to consider a school along with all of the others when we do not know if there is going to be any FA. Would love to hear other students' experience with SCU since the end of March.

I got a handful of letters and emails after my acceptance persuading to join, and a couple more after I sent my deposit congratulating me and another about housing (which I had already sent in).

I didn’t get any cookie certificates or letters from parents, and frankly both of those would turn me off. Gimmicks don’t sell in my book. Nice gestures are always appreciated (a t-shirt, keychain or something) but I really couldn’t care less what a current student or parent has to say, because its not like the school is going to send out a brutally honest one. We come to CC for the peer to peer advice.

Financial aid should be online in your eCampus. I also got a letter about it though. My guess is that because of the mistake (they do happen, you know) that you aren’t quite up to date on their mailing list and things like FA and follow up letters are just stuck in the pipeline.

I applied to USC and have not gotten my acceptance letter yet. I called the admissions office and they said that I will be getting my letter by next week…does this mean I did not get admitted into the school?!
