just wondering, does anyone have an inkling of what happens if my materials from my school don’t get in on time? can i submit and still get results on m10 or is it automatically disqualified?
Probably a good idea to contact each school and see what they have to say about it.
Nothing you, the applicant, are submitting should be late. There is probably some leeway/forgiveness if a teacher rec or transcript arrives late, but this is really a matter of the admissions department at each school, so you should reach out to each. I don’t know your situation /reason, and it is possiblethere could be leeway.
I would guess, and it is only a guess, that the more selective the school is, the easier it is to dismiss apps that aren’t ready for review when they are ready to review them and that exceptions are reserved for more extreme situations (big donor legacy). But that is only what I would guess.
Last year, when I was thinking about applying to prep schools for my daughter I spoke with someone who is now retired from admissions work but still really loves the process. He told me how there are so many great applicants for seats that often times admissions will find ANY reason to say no – that they simply have to sometimes. I don’t know how true it is but I’m also pretty sure that there must be exceptions, however few. Bottom line is try to get the application in at the very least and contact each school. They may accommodate you if it’s transcripts, etc but you shouldn’t be sending the preliminary forms late.
The following message from SPS Office of Admission was disseminated yesterday: “Don’t worry! We know that the January 15th deadline can cause lots of anxiety. But please don’t worry. If anything is missing after the 15th, we will let you know and patiently wait for it. There is no late penalty. We promise! We are looking forward to reading your application!”
@GoatMama oh yeah I received that as well. Awfully kind of them to give us a sort of leeway, really has wonders on stress!
All is well in the world!
I apologize in advance if this comment is not related to the @altablue’s question. My questions is about the SAO system of applying to schools such as Lawrenceville and The Hill School. In my own time zone, I had submitted the application at 8:00 pm, which is around 1am the standard UTC time zone. I has stated that I have submitted my “student personal statements” as late. Should I be worried at all? Additionally, I had a question about the applicants. If two applicants are fairly similar in terms of score, sports, and academic achievements, then what can you put into your personal statement to stand apart? Thank you in advance.
Please disregard the careless spelling error I made when I stated “I has stated that I have submitted my “student personal statements” as late.” I meant to put “It has stated…”.

If you’re worried that your application will be considered late, email the AO you worked with and confirm that they have received what they need so you can put those fears to rest.

As far as your second question goes… no one can answer that.
