<p>Do the School Report/Teacher Rec have to adhere to the Jan 1 deadline? If, let's say, they are mailed by the end of next week and reach the university around Jan 9th, will that be a problem? I'm not sure if only your part of the application or everything has to be in on Jan 1st.</p>

<p>No, they do not have to adhere to the Jan. 1 postmark deadline. I had the same question and called NU. The admissions office said that they can come a week late. Even if they don't get them by then, they give everyone who is missing something in their app a notification in February and an opportunity to send in whatever is missing.</p>
