Hi guys can you put the links for your accepted videos that will help me so much please do not ignore

@LuigiLuca if you search up LaunchX 2020 on YouTube a lot of the accepted ones will be edited to include [ACCEPTED] in the title. So you can always reference on there if you need to :v:

Hello guys. I’m going to the Cambridge session and I’ve created a discord server to connect all launchx students and alumni. Please add and PM me on discord if you are interested in joining. I cannot post the link here because of the TOS. There are people from UMich Session 2 and Cambridge session in there currently. My discord is mr.tromero#7822.
I have also created a LaunchX subreddit for everything about LaunchX. It’s r/LaunchXperience.

Damn. I submitted my application for RD, decisions are supposed to be out tomorrow and they didn’t contact me for an interview. I worked pretty hard on the application but it seems like most people who get in get an interview. I guess I’ll just apply again. Besides, there are more opportunities out there

Does anyone know if GATSVI is prestigious compared to LaunchX? Is it worth it for the money?

Hey guys, I got into UMich Session 2. Any discord or group chat that I can join?

@cmeyer23 add me on discord mr.tromero#7822 and I’ll add you.

hey guys, just found out I got waitlisted. id anyone in a similar boat? does anyone know how likely it is to get off the waitlist?

launchx virtual is occurring - summer in-person programs are still on tho. I really have no idea what to do. from reading the news, I dont think covid-19 social distancing is gonna stop anytime soon but I really want to do in-person. which option r u guys leaning towards?

Practically all other programs are going online or cancelled

RSI - canceled
Endevvr - Just announced apps opened. Online only for 2020
Quarter Zero - most likely will move to online since they rotate between Santa Barbara, SF and NYC. My son was accepted to Q0 and we are awaiting decision to switch to online. There is no way this will be resolved on west coast or east coast by June/July

I live only 15 mins from Ann Arbor, and the State of Michigan announced that schools are done for this school year. I can’t imagine state will allow anyone at UMich dorms. especially since Michigan is one of the hardest hit areas for COVID-19. You can pretty much forget in person for session 1 and more than likely session 2. As for delaying it, that won’t work either since there are late summer programs ongoing here also like MMSS (Michigan Math and Science Scholars), LEAD. Housing would be a nightmare. I know this since my son has also been accepted to MMSS for late July to Aug 2week residential course and UM is already advising there is a strong likelihood it may be commuter or most likely online/cancelled. Last year half the courses in the summer there were kids from OOS and international as my son had been accepted to MMSS as a rising sophomore. Given travel restrictions, I doubt this situation will be completely resolved in 2 months

Not to rain on everyone’s acceptances but these are uncharted waters and realities of today…good luck and stay safe !

@Jaggie99 How did u find an application for endevvr, I checked their website multiple times this year (since September) and they don’t have an application on there.

I sent them an email about whether in person could switch to online in the event that in person is cancelled and they said:

“At this time, we expect to be running the in-person programs. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that there will be enough spots for all of the admitted students to sign up for the virtual program in case the in-person program is canceled. We will have to prioritize the student that sign up for the virtual program by April 13th to ensure that we can provide the experience they have been promised and ensure enough one on one time with instructors and mentors during the program.”

This puts students in a very strange risk reward ratio, where if they choose in person, they risk it being cancelled and ending up with nothing, but if they choose virtual, they risk missing out on in person. 4/13 is far too early for students to be able to tell the full scope of the situation.

I have applied before regular round ddl, and I got an interview and location preference, but I still did not receive any email about my application decision. There is no update in the portal. Does anyone know what this means?

Does anyone know if you can switch from virtual back to in-person later on if in-person doesn’t get canceled?

@supernova9001 I’m pretty sure they said you could not do that. :frowning:

I’ve seen a couple things about the quality of LaunchX decreasing in the years that it has moved out of MIT and became a for-profit company. Does anyone have similar concerns? And how does Launch stack up against M&TSI and which one should I go to?

Yes, I have heard the same. I heard from a person who attended MIT last year saying the entire program was a mess. Also heard they are losing funds

@kimbokjoo are you still going?

Also is anyone here going to UMich session 1?

It looks like all of Launch X is going to go virtual this summer which make sense since all predictions show prolonged social distancing in the U.S. The questions are whether Launch X will have quality mentors/speakers in the program, will students be well matched in their teams, and will students from outside the US continue to participate. The cost of the online program is quite steep. What do folks think about its value?
