I applied regular decision for launch X and I’m so nervous! I don’t expect to get in, so I’m already looking at other programs. But how long do they usually take to tell you if u got an interview or not after u submit ur application?
Is it true that acceptance letters come out a week after? I’m kinda nervous since I had my interview on 1/29 (Wed last week).
@adnann Since the regular decision date is April 1, maybe late February or early March? I applied ed and got an interview last week (ed decision date is February 15), so really it could be anytime before April
@kimbokjoo Yeah, my biggest fear is honestly the interview, as my interviewer, Michael, flew through the questions pretty fast and I could have shown myself better through further intricate questions. What concerned me even more is my interview email came on the 7th, and I scheduled immediately but ended up getting pushed two weeks due to both schedule conflicts on his end and a technical glitch on my own, which I really hope didn’t impact my chances. If I don’t get in, I won’t be surprised as I don’t have crazy entrepreneurial experience as some people who have, but it would help if other decisions were also rolling haha.
Noted that LaunchX is extending regular decision deadline and adding a “rolling admission”. Does it mean applications aren’t coming in high as expected therefore soliciting more applications?
And does anyone know if the “Cambridge MA” location is at MIT this year? Wonder why it doesn’t indicate location as the school name (as all other locations do).
I watched a vlog about an MIT session. They didn’t live at MIT but had to commute their everyday on the bus. Maybe that’s why
For those of you that had interviews, how big of an impact do you think it had on your application? I’m a little nervous about mine since I rambled a bit and talked fast
if u applied early, you’ll prob get in if your video was average to crazy good. I dont think my interview was spectacular but I spoke well. dont worry, if ur foundation is there from ur video I think u have a shot!
but honestly, did u guys see any of launchx applicant videos from last years? they were crazy and personally I just think last years put way more effort into their videos than this years… kinda questioning my acceptance now cuz I feel this year the caliber is lower??but I know there are def students who worked their butts of on their app but just less this year it seems from video quality.
@kimbokjoo while that may be true (personally I feel as a whole class of 2020 is much more accomplished) keep in mind that only the best of the best and the most confident are likely to publish their videos. i would definitely not make mine public if i got accepted, lol. i’ve seen some pretty stacked videos this year as well.
yeah I see ur point but some people just published their video to flex. like me lol. I wanted to join all the other launch admits from last year and feel socially validated :)). LOL that sounded so bad. maybe I should remove mine??
@M4ndat0ry Not necessarily! Acceptances are released on a rolling basis. How fast you get your decisions depends on a lot of factors aside from your interview and its date, such as how busy the admissions team is and if there are other deadlines coming up. You should hear back soon!
@techn0l0g1c I didn’t have that much entrepreneurial experience when I applied and I definitely didn’t expect that I’d get in. The admissions team is looking for entrepreneurial spirit more than experience, so if you show that you have the right mindset to be an entrepreneur then you should be ok. Also, don’t worry about small technical issues like that. Interviewers are often past alums and are usually pretty understanding in my experience!
@kimbokjoo @gobeyond22 In terms of the Cambridge, MA location, I’ve spoken to some of the LaunchX team and right now they’re working on finalizing everything to make sure that it’s as convenient as possible for students. They don’t want to release any info before it’s all finalized but know that they’re working hard to make it a good student experience.
Do you know how many apply and how many in total get accepted ? I mean the combined total acceptances in all four sessions (UMichigan-2, MIT-1, NorthWestern-1).
@abcxyz2021 I know the acceptance rate is around 15%, but I’m not sure how many are accepted to each location
Does anyone know if there are applicants who get accepted without ever getting an interview? Is the lack of an interview request the equivalent of a rejection?
The lack of an interview doesn’t mean you got rejected, instead suggests that your application was enough for LaunchX to make a decision. An interview is only given out if LaunchX feels they want to know even more about you.
Also, I got an email from LaunchX to specify a location preference to select. Does this mean I got in or did I have an early celebration haha.
@techn0l0g1c me too! I got one just now. I assume there’s a good chance that we were accepted if they want to know our location preferences
how long ago was your interview? Mine was last weekend and I haven’t heard back yet, fingers crossed
My interview was on January 20th, so after a week I was pretty worried after the usual case is people got acceptances a week after the interview and hoped I was one of those people that ended up getting it a month later, and this email seemed like confirmation. I am 80% sure both of us got accepted, otherwise it makes no sense for them to ask where we want to go if we weren’t going to go anyways, but still weird that at least in this thread no one said they got asked this question. Fingers crossed as well though.
@claireoxner , what are your thoughts on not getting an interview. Do you agree with @techn0l0g1c ? Did most of your group have an interview?
I got an email asking me to fill out a form on my location preference, does this mean I got accepted?
