LaunchX Summer 2020

Where did you hear that it was guaranteed?

anybody else get accepted so far? I heard that after an interview the acceptance letter (if they accept) is sent out a max of a week after. just anxious lmao. I had my interview 6 days ago…

holy cow, I got in to launchx at UPenn:) anyone else going? excited!!

Did my interview a week ago as well

I’m so deceived that they don’t offer financial aid for international applicants anymore… The program would lose a lot from its diversity. I am from Tunisia and I was accepted to Session 1 of Umichigan, but I just discovered that they don’t offer finanid for international students, so I wouldn’t be able to join you guys… It’s so sad I have to admit… Have fun there!!

I got accepted to the Northwestern session today! Excited to meet everyone else who was accepted!

@kimbokjoo congrats!!! @jotarozeppeli love your username and congrats!!!

My LaunchX Interview was on the 20th and it’s been more than a week obviously, and again I had also heard a rumor that they usually issue acceptance a week after your interview. Do rejections also come out on a rolling basis or am I just being paranoid?

@elyes2002 aww man that sucks :frowning: have you tried emailing them and asking them to reconsider?

I think rejections come out on feb 15th or the date listed on their website that all decisions would be released. dont worry at all, keep an eye on your inbox!! loll

oh, since I applied EA, do deferrals also come out that day? I just want some sort of confirmation that acceptances don’t come out a week after interviews so I can be a little stressed out I guess

@techn0l0g1c don’t stress!! i haven’t heard about anyone getting rejected after interviews- after all they wouldn’t be wasting their interviewers time on someone they didn’t think was good for their program. if you think your interview went well you should be fine

@techn0l0g1c dw!! i interviewed on december 30th and was accepted on jan 23rd, so they’re probs just taking a little extra time to review ur app

@notaloner Oh really? I guess that does make sense, my interviewer was Michael if you had him, and unfortunately the 1st time we called we were able to talk for 2 mins until my internet for some reason gave up, had to reschedule and the 2nd time it was much smoother but could have been better, but its definitely assuring if that is true

@techn0l0g1c nah, my interview’s later this week. could i ask what questions you were asked? also, full honesty i don’t know if that’s true but it seems logical doesn’t it:)

What is the overall quality and reputation of LaunchX at Michigan compared with the one at MIT? How does this stack up to Boston University’s RISE program in terms of selectiveness and reputation for college admissions. Thanks for your help!

They are more or less the same program. Colleges don’t care where it’s at. They care about the program. There are very slight differences acc to their website faq but curriculum is the same. If youre talking about this https://www.bu.edu/summer/high-school-programs/rise-internship-practicum/how-to-apply/

LaunchX is pretty prestigious in terms of how colleges view it. I talked about this w my college counselor too and he says this is one of the more prestigious ones.

@notaloner Most of my questions were surprisingly normal, in contrast with what I had seen on previous LaunchX threads where one questions was “What is your favorite color and why?” Some of my questions included variations of “Why LaunchX?” and “Describe a failure and how you worked to overcome it.” There were some points where it felt almost like a conversation rather than an interview, but it was only two responses for me where my interviewer wanted to know more about them or describe them more, but ended most with either “Good Response” or “Excellent Response” and moved to the next question. Imo the questions were somewhat generic for a camp that is fairly prestigious, but many might have different opinions depending on their interviewer. Overall the interview went smooth for me, but I was really expecting insane curve balls.

@abcxyz2021

I don’t know anything about the BU program, but I know that the LaunchX program is the same at each location it’s held at. There’s no difference in quality of education or prestige at any of the sessions.

Hi! So I don’t know if this is the right place to ask about this, but I applied early to Launch and was accepted, but my mother really wants me to apply to and attend LEAD (another business summer program). If anyone else knows about LEAD or is facing the same issue, I would appreciate some advice on which program is “better” / more “prestigious” or if I should even consider applying to the second one. Thanks!

Yeah same technologic, my questions were actually pretty simple. I guess there r good and bad sides to it but i definitely think deeper questions could show my personality better.
