Law School: Straight after B.S. or after M.P.H.?

I'm currently a junior in college studying Biomedical Engineering- I'm trying to decide between applying to a combined J.D./M.P.H. program straight out of college or pursuing an M.P.H degree and then applying to law school.

Due to sickness- my first 2 years of college weren't exactly great. I managed A's and B's- some C's- when I was first diagnosed with my condition and again when it became worse.

I'm just wondering how much weight would be put on my first 2 years at community college- especially considering the time lapse would be 4 to 5 years.

I know this seems neurotic and obnoxious, but this is just something circling my mind that I really needed to get out.

Why do you need a JD at all?

PH schools care more about relevant work/volunteer experience than they do gpa. GRE-M is a consideration at top PH schools however. (They want to make sure that you can handle epe+biostats.)

LS is all about gpa+lsat. Top grades in a Master’s program are of almost no value to LS admissions.

Because I want to be eligible to take the Bar exam and practice law in the state of Florida?

Thanks. I’ve gotten my GPA up to a 3.8 and I did well on a diagnostic LSAT I took a few weeks ago. I’ll be sure to ask more questions regarding PH in the Grad School board.

What’s your goal in the joint degree?
