Law school with a foreign undergrad degree?

So I'm in high school now in the US, but my parents want to move to India once I graduate. I'm planning on attending law school in India, which is 5 yrs (no undergrad.) However, I don't want to practice in India, and I would like to return to the US. Would I have to go to school and complete the entire 7 years again, or just law school? Or could I go right into practicing? Which is probably unlikely given the differences between the American legal system and that of India. I just need a general outline of how I need to plan the next 10 years.
Thanks.

I believe you can practice with a 1 year LLM, though you should check the state bar of where you’d like to end up to be sure. I would point out that most major American law firms hire from the available 2Ls, not LLMs. Coming in with a foreign law degree may be beneficial in some narrow areas (transactional work with India), but depending on your interest the portability of an Indian law degree should be something to research further.
