<p>The “Undergraduate Origins of Ph.Ds” link is for a site where you have to pay for that information, but some schools must pay for it and then post it on their web sites, so you can actually get it for free. <p>I value this information in my search and use it as one factor the ranking system I’ve developed.</p>

<p>It would be even better if they divided the quantity of PhD’s by the number of students in each origin school [using both “total” and “academic field” numbers], so I’ve had to come up with my own method of doing that as well.</p>
