LEAD America

To find out the dress code, go to their website and find the program and location that you are attending. There you should see a link to preview your conference’s calendar and events. On specific times and dates it will display your dress code. Formal, Business, & Professional. I suggest that you pack your whole entire closet…that’s what I did! If you don’t then you may find yourself wearing the same clothes over & over. It’s ok if you bring “tide to go” or something like that…LOL!

hey, i’d like to know which location you went to for medicine & healthcare?

I was actually going to go to one of the conferences for law this summer, but decided not to because I decided it was more worthwhile to stay home and work/volunteer instead.

For those of you that were interested in what the “college admissions value” of this program is, I agree with posts that have said it’s pretty much nothing at selective colleges. It’s extremely easy to be “invited” to come the conference. There is very little selectivity, and therefore, it says nothing about how desirable of a student you are.

You might want to consider the financials of the whole thing. For those of you that live under a rock, this is a recession. news flash most people are under pretty tough financial conditions right now; and whether or not you are affected by this, it would still be a much better option to work in order to help your family, or volunteer at a soup kitchen/foodpantry/hospital/library/whatever, considering how community organizations need more and more help when funding/donations drop. It would show a lot more maturity/empathy/compassion on your part, than if you attended the conference.

If you still want to go to this thing, but are finding it difficult to pay for, I suggest you call the admissions office and request financial aid. They are pretty much handing it to whoever calls. I just called a couple hours ago to see what they could give me, and they offered me 400 dollars right away, without even knowing who I am, what my qualifications are, or whether I even need it.

So yeah, those of you that are strapped for cash this summer but still want to attend this largely uneducational but still socially fun thing, call them! deadlines this friday!

LeadAmerica is on par with other open-enrollment (though they always claim to be “competitive”) summer programs like NYLC, NYCF, etc. Personally, two weeks for 3k is way too much for me. My friend went and had a great time, but looking at their agenda, it isn’t intensive enough to be worth so much money. Basically, you get a taste of college life and a peek into future careers, not in breadth or depth.

There are a lot of better programs out there.

ok, i m really confused because i got an email from lead america, and i don’t know whether i should go to the conference or not. i have heard both good and bad things about it, so i dont know what to do. but i wanted to know if the conference was merit based, like are the students who are invited to join it have achieved something notable in high school. and also would the colleges actually care if i attended this conference?

Do you know of any health care and medical summer programs under $2,000? Please email me @ jessicacsimpson@sbcglobal.net
