Is any one applying for the Leadership program. I know the perks include special housing but is there anything else besides a bunch of community service you have to complete. Is it really worth it…aka will it look good on med school applications and HOW good

what other schools did u get accepted to? was bc ur first choice?

yes Boston College was my first choice although i thought about brandeis, fordham, williams, and providence. A lot had to do with athletics as well. However mainly I just am wondering if the leadership program (at Boston College) is worth it (the application is rather lengthy).

i'm definitely applying for the leadership program, if only for the prefered housing. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like a lot of work besides community service and some occasional meetings and it can't hurt your application to whatever grad school you might apply to. good luck to all that apply

Apply to the leadership program if it interests you. I think the people that were in it liked it. Also, the housing is as nice as it gets for Freshman (you're in a big old house, with kitchen, common rooms, and fireplace etc. In addition, you're guaranteed Upper Campus if that is your choice (like the majority of incoming freshman).

I agree with everything Drink the Ass said (that sounded wrong, whats up with that name?). The housing is the best. But think about if you want to live with only 15 people your first year. If you all get along great, but if not ... I've heard about some bad experiences.

Also some general advice: you got into BC ... Congrats. Now stop making every decision based on what you think "will look good for ..."

Apply to Shaw House (or whatever else you choose to get involved with here) because you're interested in it or think you can contribute to it. The rest (grad school apps, fellowships, resumes, etc) will work itself based on what your actual experiences are (i.e. what you actaully do in the Shaw program or whatever else), NOT the fact that you list "leadership program" on an application.
