Learning a language?

So I go to Japanese school every Saturday since I'm Japanese but my high school doesn't offer it. Recently I've been moved from the second language class to the first language class (i.e. Japanese as your first language). However, it's not my first language, meaning I can't speak it fluently, and the class is uber hard. Like, the students there talk like natives. So far, I've had few problems understanding what is being said during class, but the problem is that I can't actually say stuff in complete sentences beyond the basic level. So, my question is: will this immersion help me achieve fluency despite no real instruction? In other words, will I pick up the language just by ear?

Fluency, no, but you will get a better understanding. Happened to me with Spanish (at-home classes were bettered by speaking Spanish at school). Three week German immersion in Berlin, not so much.
