Hello, does anyone have experiences to share about the Learning Communities at VU? Have you or your son/daughter been in one, which one, plusses and minuses? Thanks.
@sadiect The learning communities are very popular. Some more than others. They are usually housed in the smaller freshman dorms. This is nice because the students in the LC communities tend to have a better bonding experience with the other students in their dorm. The more popular ones, like the leadership LC, rooms are often tripled because of the high demand. There is an option when you sign up on the residential life’s site to opt out of the LC if you prefer a double. My S registered for a learning community but selected the option of being placed in a double rather than a triple in the LC. Because there were no doubles available, only triples in the LC he chose he was unable to participate in that LC. In the end it worked out well. He is happy with only being in a double for this year.
The learning communities are a nice way to meet people and form friendships. I think they are a great option.
