I am currently a USC international student and some unfortunate things have happened. I have financial troubles and have decided to file a Leave of Absence with USC. I did that a day ago and I did pay only one of the 5 payments towards my tuition for the second semester. I got an email saying that I have to pay off the rest of the money even though I will not be in the country and I will not attend classes for the rest of the semester. What can I do and who to ask to help me with this matter?
You are obligated to pay the remainder of the semester. Since it is too late to withdraw you are responsible for what is owed. No one can take your spot. Imagine if everyone had the option to leave without paying their bill - schools couldn’t survive. That is why some people purchase insurance to cover the tuition costs should they be unable to complete it. You can talk to USC accounts/financial aid, but it sounds like you owe it.
Thank you! I just have one more question.
If I withdraw from the university and tell them that I will not be attending USC anymore therefore my spot will be open I won’t owe them anything , correct ?

No I haven’t I have until the 23rd to leave. My visa is dependent on my education. I cannot afford to pay the rest of the semester that is the reason I have to leave USC, doesn’t that count for something?
What? Are you kidding? Your think your spot is open, and in the middle of February… that is zero value to them. Think about this…you owe what you owe, the entire semester.
You can’t eat part of a meal at a restaurant then get up and leave and not owe for the meal. You committed to the semester.
Is this a joke perhaps?
