legacies

I know that having a legacy at Princeton really helps... but exactly how much? Do legacies have lower admissions standards? How much does it lower the standards?

I don't have my heart set on Princeton at all but it would be cool I guess since my dad went there.. I'm a good student, not the best at all.

I'm thinking a legacy would only help if you're borderline... and I'm definitely not borderline compared to every genius who applies.

Anyone know any hard facts?

I would hope that legacy helps some in the admissions process. My great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather donated the lands that Princeton Univ. was built on. I hope that counts for something!

Legacy can help significantly. No one however is a shoe-in

…from the Princeton web site:
Class of 2013: 12.7% of the students in the class are children of Princeton alumni.
