Hey everyone,
I’m currently a junior, so this is more out of curiosity than for applications sake, but I was wondering to what extent do I qualify as “legacy” at Harvard. My father attended Harvard Business, and my grandfather and great-grandfather attended Harvard undergrad. As of right now, I’m at the top of my class, so, assuming I keep my grades up, would the legacy give me any significant boost?
Hi! Current senior with Harvard legacy here. My mom attended for undergraduate studies. Unforetunately, it looks like your dad’s graduate school studies nor your grandparent’s attendance will count as legacy. Refer to this thread:
Keep in mind that 70% of Harvard College legacy applicants are rejected. It can help but not if the rest of you application is less than superior.
Not only will it not give you a significant boost, it will give you no boost. Legacy only comes into play if at least one parent attended Harvard College (i.e. undergrad - not HMS, HBS, Harvard Law, etc.)

I know a double legacy (both parents went to Harvard) with 1600 SAT scores (V+M) who got rejected by Harvard last year. Yeah, legacies get a “second look”, but that second look may not help.
