I recently heard that a majority of the people accepted early are those who have legacy or are selected for sports?? Is this true? how much are accepted early based on merit?

Also, if I applied to Stanford EA without financial aid, does this increase my chances of getting in?

Yeah I’d say about half of the people that get in REA are either legacies or joining athletics. Your financial status does not affect your decision.

@Sillyup20: The financial status doesn’t affect your chances only if you are a domestic applicant. If wanttogetinbadly is an international student, his chances to get in will be higher if he doesn’t request fin aid

Also, I’ve heard that many (most?) universities are need-blind, but not wealth-blind. That means that although they don’t look at how much aid you’ll be needing, they do give some sort of advantage to those who don’t apply for financial aid. Is this true?

Early admit,
Yes “wants” get in but so do kids that Stanford wants. If you have great qualifications, your chances are best EA as you are telling Stanford that is where you want to go
