Legacy

My dad is a Midd alum. I’m considering applying either ED2 or RD. Can anyone elaborate on how much weight they put on legacy? I know some schools (ahem UPenn) rarely except legacies who apply RD. Does Midd penalize legacies who choose RD over ED2? If I have a high GPA and an ACT in the low 30s plus great ec’s, do I have a strong chance? (rejected from Dartmouth btw) intended major: Biology
Thank you!

Sorry you didn’t get n to Dartmouth. What is a high GPA?
I don’t know enough to answer the “penalize” part of the question, and it’s “accept”, not “except”. Legacy will help at Midd-if you really want to get in, ED2 doubles your chance over RD.

You sound like a great candidate!

@OldbatesieDoc thanks for your reply! My GPA is 4.12 (my school only does weighted). I don’t know but I’ve heard that schools sometimes choose not to accept legacies if they do not apply ED because they didn’t show actual interest (thus they may only be applying RD because their parent went). Does ED2 really have that higher of an acceptance rate than RD for Midd? lol awkward grammar mistake, I typed the post fast and then couldn’t figure out how to edit

No I don’t think the legacy point doesn’t count anymore at Midd. They always hope you’ll be grateful and donate a building someday.
You certainly are qualified for any school-just remember you have to be qualified AND lucky!
Yes, ED 2 is about twice RD…Because they still know that they’ll get you, and frankly, ED2 exists for those poor souls who had Midd as a second choice, and didn’t get into their Ivy!
