Does anyone know how being a legacy figures in to the RPI admissions process? Is it much of a factor?

I have the impression that being a legacy helps somewhat, probably more than at more selective schools. But RPI has become more and more competitive in the last four years so it is harder to say. Our kids are legacies but have/had the stats to get in without that I think since they are RPI medalists.

I do not know about legacy and admissions, but as of a few years ago the RAA gave $2000 or $3000/yr scholarships to all legacy students. Our son recieved this gift each of his 4 years attending RPI.

Yeah being a legacy helps. It’s not one of the biggest factors, but it can definitely help the application.
