Thanks to all for this great info. My son is considering attending Lehigh as a computer science major. Does anyone have insight into the CS program? Also, any thoughts on the 70:30 male to female ratio - if that’s still the case and how that plays out for the guys? Thanks for any and all comments!
You can check the Lehigh Common Data Set (just Google it) but I’m pretty sure it’s
more like 55% male/45% female now. Admissions has student panels, parent panels, college specific panels all this month and I’m sure CS has likely come up – check out the admissions FaceBook page, the Lehigh U website or other social media. There’s also an admitted students group that is sort of an entry point to register for all these online events.
Oops. You’re absolutely correct about the male-female. I was mixing it up with another school. Apologies!
I am still interested in hearing about anyone’s opinions/experiences with computer science at Lehigh!
My son started in CS and then switched to CSB starting sophomore year. What information are you looking for?
I’m curious about the depth/breadth of the CS program, the facilities, quality of CS professors, etc. My son is deciding between Lehigh and RPI (the school with the 70:30 male-female ratio). Seems like RPI might be better for CS, but Lehigh might provide a better overall college experience.
Mmm…I might not be the best person to answer that since my S didn’t pursue straight CS. I know he’s enjoyed his CS classes, found them challenging and rigorous, and his professors very knowledgeable and accessible.
I agree with your assessment regarding the college experience between Lehigh and RPI. My son visited both and ultimately applied ED to Lehigh.
Lehigh has been a great experience for my S. He’s not into Greek life and has a close group of friends, a couple of whom are in fraternities and sororities. A lot of school community/pride. Also if your S decides to switch majors and/or add business or another major/minor Lehigh is very accommodating.
However, if your S is definitely looking for CS, RPI does rank higher for that major.
Thank you - it’s nice to hear about your son’s experience. I appreciate it!
@Alumnamom Thanks very much for the additional information! Interesting twist on the Greek system during covid. Also, sounds like fun arts camaraderie with the football team and Dance Fest. Helpful information, thanks.
My D just denies the acceptance (School of Business), so good luck to whoever on the waitlist!
Not sure if anyone is still checking this, but on what date did you all receive the email that decisions would be forthcoming?
