@kikkydee are you mad because someone you know (maybe even yourself) was not accepted? Thank you for that wonderful link, though!! I go to St. Paul’s… of course I know early decision is binding and all of the rules that follow the commitment. And, yes, I actually will be attending Lehigh in the fall. Also, just so you know, if I gave up my position, the next qualified applicant off the wait list would get it (so I wouldn’t be “stealing” the spot from anyone else???) Good day!! And you, my friend, are blocked!!!
@kikkydee and whoever said this was a “laughing matter”?? Don’t you think if I were not able attend Lehigh for financial reasons I would be devastated?? I have completely discussed this situation with my COLLEGE COUNSELOR, but thanks for your regards. #lehigh2021
waltz here is your quote
“Accepted ED1 - STATUS: may not attend ($$$$$$$)
GPA: 3.95 UW - 4.2 W
SAT: 1480
Background: boarding school in NH (not from rich family though lol)”
I believe the last phrase in this post is “lol”
Wow, you have been able to go to a boarding school that costs $56,000 a year?
My son went to Lehigh years ago. We applied regular admission. He did not qualify for any financial aid. Lehigh was worth every penny we spent.
If you actually take the context into consideration, I said “lol” because I am on full scholarship to b.s. because I am from a military family. I only said “lol” so people did not assume I come from money because of my private education. I do qualify for finanicial aid, but I did not receive the amount I had intended to. However, I will still be attending Lehigh because my parents and I also believe the education is worth some debt. I am not going to fight with a parent who is probably three times my senior. I never intended for my minute response to cause this much of a hustle, I would assume you have better things to do than make a teenager feel sorry about their financial situation and accusing them of taking another spot from a prospective. Please do not respond to this again.

By the way does anyone know if merit-based scholarships have been awarded yet? My letter didn’t mention anything
Lehigh2021,
I am so sorry you didn’t get into the IBE program. Lehigh is very good about encouraging students to get minors that complement their major area of study. My son was an engineering student and was accepted into the business minor program and he was was to get another minor too. You are a such a determined student - I am sure you will be able to develop a really interesting program for yourself.
If anyone finds any other groups for accepted students please post it on here. I know that there’s a Facebook group, but I don’t have a Facebook (where I’m from its always been for just a place for parents and older people) I’ve always been more centered around Twitter and Instagram.
Hey, Lehigh is my dream school and I was accepted ED. One problem is the financial aid is about half of what the school calculator told us it would be, and now we are wondering if i have to back out because I can’t afford it. Do you know of ways to get more? please help!
@collegebound802 I would go back through the NPC and print the information off. Then I would contact the Financial aid office to try to understand why the two are so different. You may have a complex situation that the NPC was not able to assess properly, or it is also possible that there was a mistake. It would be good to be sure that you understand why the difference is occurring.
@waltz25 “friends of mine were rejected w higher stats than me, Lehigh has Tufts’ syndrome”
I am surprised that happened in the ED round. Lehigh will definitely reject strong RD candidates if they have not demonstrated interest in attending, but I have not heard of that happening in the ED round.
There can’t be “Tufts Syndrome” in the ED round. The student has already committed to attend. Something about their application just didn’t make admissions feel like they were a strong enough applicant or a good fit for the school.
My GUESS on the “Tufts Syndrome” in the ED round is the admission office may have a cap on how many early admissions they accept. Also, the decision making for a small school is a little bit more complex than a larger school. As I have said before I imagine it to be like building a full deck of cards. They have to admit a certain percent of athletes, and gender and geographic. You need kids for band, journalism, yearbook etc… Then you have to divide the students among the various colleges. Then divide among the various majors. Goodness, this is just me imagining - but when the admissions is only 1,300 (I am guessing here) and you have so many talented students to choose from it has to be tough. So, Lehigh does not just pick the first kids applying with the highest scores and GPAs. It is just impossible for anyone who isn’t in that admissions room to know what when into each and every decision. There have been articles published in the past about the admissions process and EVERY application is read and considered.
They are so many very talented students out there. You just can’t take it so personally if you aren’t accepted at every school you apply. Everyone who applies to Lehigh is really amazing! I am sure part of this process is very heart breaking for the admission staff. It is for me and I am just a mom reading about all you incredible students!
Happy holidays to everyone!
For those who were accepted, did you submit SAT subject test scores, and if so what did u get?
Hi. I applied for ED2. I would like to know do you need to submit a photocopy of the ED request form ( I saw it on the website)? Or you only need counselor and parent’s agreement on the Common App for Early Decision?
Is there a groupme for lehigh?
Hang in there everyone! I really think it will be tomorrow. I doubt they want to do it on Saturday.
I really wish you could all get in.
If you are admitted, remember that you aren’t suddenly any smarter or better than you were before. If you are not admitted, remember that you are still just as smart and awesome as you were before. Admissions offices at selective schools have to make some very arbitrary decisions. They do the best they can, but they make a lot of mistakes. The decisions of individual schools often appear to make very little sense.
I understand that It is only natural that if you do no get in it feels bad, but it really is not personal.
