<p>Hey guys, what do you think is an ideal length?
I heard that in previous years the character limit was 600, but this year its 1500.</p>

<p>before i started writing mine for the ED round i had the same question. then, when i thought i was about halfway done i checked the character count: 2200. it took me hours to get it down to precisely 1500. </p>
<p>in other words, 1500 characters is actually very little space (although better than a lot of the other places with 500 or 1000) and i think it’s quite difficult to adequately articulate why you want to go to columbia in many fewer. somehow they managed in previous years, but i would recommend that you take available of all the available space.</p>

Yes, it turned out to be no problem, as 1500 is actually way shorter than it sounds. . .</p>
