Hello. After reading the NYU Early Decision Plan, it seemed to me that there is a huge advantage of getting in ED than Regular admissions. I am thinking about applying ED to NYU CAS. I have no problem with financial aid which is a plus for applying to NYU. My question is, if applying ED to NYU CAS with no need of financial aid, how much lenience would NYU give for SAT scores and GPA for the College of Arts and Science?

Thanks you for reading this post, and please reply!

I believe they won't give you any lenience even if you don't need financial aid. Financial Aid and your admissions decision have no effect on each other as far as I know.

I'm pretty sure NYU is need blind, but there definitely is lenience in terms of applying ED.

NYU says they are need blind. Whether they actually are or not, who knows.

Well, if they were not need blind, I certainly would not be going with my EFC of 68 lol. And there are people with EFC's of 0 going. So I actually do think that the admissions office does the financial situation thing separately.

Oh, then I guess they keep their word.

As for the early decision, there is an advantage in that less people apply so you have a better shot. But I have also heard that the people who apply ED are very, very stiff competition. I'm guessing stiff competition would wait it out for RD and apply to the Ivies too, but that's just what I heard. I mean, if you have like 1500 on your SATs and a 2.5 GPA, you're not going to get in either way but they'd probably make it a little easier considering you're showing how much you really do want to attend NYU.
