ok...it's the last day of the lenovo month-long sale.

and do you think they'll have another big sale like this in the near future?

ok...it's the last day of the lenovo month-long sale.

i was wondering what you guys thought about this brand.

and do you think they'll have another big sale like this in the near future?

the thinkpads are durable laptops and if they are powerful enough for your needs they are a solid buy

they are not many huge huge sales on ibm laptops that I have noticed

I would also suggest looking at the HP business line of notebooks

Lenovos are truely the best laptops you can get. They are built extremely tought and rarely if ever have ANY problems. I've had mine for a year and its worked perfect, no problems ever.

lenovos are not the best laptops you can get - they really lack the power to take that title..they are the best consumer laptop durability wise avaliable widely throughout the us without a doubt though. Best keyboards too.

No they are the best.

Who says you need a lot of power for a laptop? If your wanting to play games, then a laptop isn't right for you. The fact that you can get a Lenovo with Core Duo for $1000 sounds damn good to me.

Macbook (non-pro) or thinkpad X60?

Depends what on your requirements.

Personally, I'll choose the X60.

Yea thanks, but closer look there is no CD/DVD drive, you have to buy the 2299.00 and its a 3 pound dock. That made my choice easy.

I recommend T series, they are pretty standard workhorse laptops.

i want to go for an ultra portable if i could.

If you really need to take an optical drive with you everywhere, you can get an external one that plugs in via USB.

Lenovo Thinkpads are the best business laptops and the best bet for college students. Its very sturdy, best keyboard, good performance. Downside is that its pricey. I dont know why people say Thinkpads have bad performance since all the benchmarks I have seen shows Thinkpads to be on par with other notebooks that are supposedly "faster". Only area that is lacking is in video card since the best gpu in a Thinkpad is a ATI X1600. Not many needs better than that though.

MacBook is consumer and more specifically style orienated. Gaming performance isnt great on it either. I would get the Thinkpad over the MacBook unless style is a big concern.

p.s. I doubt anyone needs to carry a optical drive around. If you really need a disk just burn an image and mount it on your hard drive. I have a Dell Latitude X1 (Samsung Q30 rebrand) and it has no internal optical drive...and I havent missed it so far.

macbook vs. thinkpad X60
thinking about the same two...but I guess I'll go with the mac book...it's cheaper, has the built in cd/dvd drive, greatsoftware(at least for me because I am looking into film/ design...)...Why did I even think about getting something else..oh yes...I wanted to run AutoCAD...

so wait, what happens when i but the X60 and no dock and i need to install something?
