@sdidskd Actually, in terms of dorms, the top floors of Century Apartments do flood regularly. I lived there last year, and there were several instances when people had to be moved to the Radisson until they redid their apartment. The same thing might be an issue with CarGar as well. The only other instance I know of was when someone hit a hallway sprinkler with a ball in Pardee Tower last year, and the entire floor and two other floors all had to be moved to the Radisson. But, of course, this was an incredibly rare instance. I’ve never heard of any classrooms, etc. flooding.
Yes, @CADREAMIN , I know it’s not a state school and I know it has a large endowment. That’s why it’s still on the list. We have all been to LA. We visit friends in Orange County at least once yearly as well. I’ve been through this with visits to schools in other states and I know what I’m doing. I know it sounds ridiculous. It’s even more ridiculous when it’s your life all of a sudden.
I think your best bet would be to call housing, super nice people there. They can tell you if there were any water incidents recently and if/what was affected. They would be the ones that would know. Of course something could happen next week or next month, so you could also wait until accepted to rule out certain housing if it applies. It is not an issue that should prevent you from applying; if there is a room or building with an issue, that would certainly be an exception, not anything normal or tolerated.
hello, I was recently (a couple days ago) admitted to usc and am fairly clueless about housing around usc. I am currently looking at The lorenzo, west 27th and gateway. I have been looking for someone to talk to about off campus housing. can we pm? thanks so much
Gateway. Lorenzo is too far. There are a couple other threads discussing this.
@Larrythelobsterr I have PM’d you some thoughts…
@WWWard I am new and can’t seem to locate any button for PM you. My son is applying for Fall 2019 transfer and I have a few questions in regards to off campus housing. Much appreciated.
@sabotmom you can’t pm people until you have 15 posts.
Thanks!
@sabotmom I will PM you.
Is CarGar any good?
It can be a more frustrating process, but finding a large studio or one bedroom apartment to share with someone you know can save a couple hundred dollars a month (maybe even more) compared to going with a big managed building.
@jj1999 Yes… but my older daughter preferred Century… bigger and A/C throughout.
@jj1999 Car Gar is fine. Good location. Did assignments come out?
Nah assignments didn’t come out yet. I think I have to wait till June or July to find out, and I sent my housing app in April.
I was thankful you got housing at all so Car Gar was a great thing! Oh well, more waiting.
Hi @WWWard !
I just created an account. Can you PM me, please? I am a Sophomore transfer who is super low on the USC Housing waitlist so I would love to know what your daughter did!
@CollegeStudentTime I did so.
@WWWard would you please pm me? My daughter is transferring to USC in the fall and is low on the housing waitlist. We would love to hear your daughters’ choices and any recommendations you have. Thanks!
@overwhelming Will do.
